Update regarding the rules and regulations proposed by the LSBME

The rules and regulations proposed by the LSBME regarding Physician Collaboration with Advanced Practice Registered Nurses were published in the Louisiana Register on August 20th.

There have been no additional changes from the June draft.  Please find an attached copy of the text for your convenience.

LANP sent a letter to the LSBME requesting a public hearing to provide data, views and other comments. We are certain more than one organization will be necessary to justify a public hearing.  Consequently, we are asking your organizations, individuals, collaborators and patients to draft a letter as well and send to LSBME. These letters "must be made in writing and received by the board within 20 days of the date of this notice" (August 20, 2014). Please send correspondence to: Rita Arceneaux, Confidential Executive Assistant, Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners, 630 Camp Street, New Orleans, LA, 70130.

If LSBME agrees, the hearing will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the office of the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners, 630 Camp Street, New Orleans, LA 70130.  Please adjust your schedule and plan to attend.
