NP Student Survey Request - Barriers Faced When Considering Patients for Hospice Care

Dear Louisiana Nurse Practitioners:
Patricia Masters, Priscilla Mullican, Amanda Stewart, and Annsley Walden, graduate nursing students at Northwestern State University College of Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner are working on their research thesis and are asking for your cooperation in completing the following survey.
The survey is a short survey which takes approximately 5 minutes to complete, and is launched through Survey Monkey regarding barriers faced when considering patients for hospice care. The survey will help the researchers investigate knowledge deficits related to hospice care and identify barriers that Louisiana nurse practitioners encounter when considering hospice care.
There is a total of 20 questions in the survey; however, the first 8 questions are demographic questions about the participants’ and their practice as a nurse practitioner. To the researchers’ best knowledge, the survey will have no more risk of harm than one would experience in everyday life. No personnel involved in this study have any financial or personal interest in the research or any hospice company. No personal benefit will be gained from completing this study. The participants will not incur any personal expense, other than time, by participating in the research project. The survey will be launched through Survey Monkey to protect participants’ confidentiality. Identifying information from your membership in LANP will NOT be linked to your individual responses. If you decide to take part in the survey, you have the right to decide at any time that you no longer wish to continue. The results of the study will describe the barriers Louisiana nurse practitioners face when considering patients for hospice care. Implications of the study will provide a base of knowledge to be built upon for future research. The research project will be approved by Northwestern State University’s Institutional Review Board. Consent is implied by participation and submission of the completed survey. There will be no other surveys required for participation in this research project.
