At South Star Urgent Care, our Nurse Practitioners provide care for patients under the direction of the medical staff physician in compliance with the philosophy of the SouthStar, standards of practice and regulations of government agencies. They are responsible for providing outstanding service while maintaining a compassionate and welcoming atmosphere. The ideal candidate is energetic, flexible, have a positive attitude and above all else, has a passion for patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Provides primary healthcare in collaboration with physicians
• Manages selected cases according to established protocols
• Maintains case histories, medical reports and other records
• Prepares treatment plans
• Orders x-rays and other diagnostic procedures
• Writes prescriptions according to protocols
• Conducts health assessments utilizing diagnostic tools and laboratory tests
• Patient education counseling
• Performs other duties as requested by physicians and clinic manager
• Follows state guidelines for Prescriptive and Distributing Authority as outlined by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.
• Adheres to strict Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners guidelines for prescriptive authority supervised by MHM medical staff physician

Typical schedules consist of 12 hour shifts rotating weekends off. Clinic hours are Monday-Friday 8a-8p, Saturday-Sunday 9a-5p.
